Early Childhood Programs REGISTRATION opens Jan. 30, 2026
Welcome to the Kenneth C. Coombs School!
What an exciting time in your child's life! We would love to welcome your little one to one of our Early Childhood programs here at Mashpee Public Schools. Whether your child is ready for their first school experience or taking the next step in their learning journey, we have a program designed just for them. Our Early Childhood classrooms are filled with laughter, discovery, and the joy of learning together. We believe every child deserves a warm, inclusive environment where they can grow at their own pace while making friends and exploring the world around them.
Registration Dealine: April 1, 2026: Please be sure to complete your registration by April 1st. If applications for our Integrated Preschool peer model program exceed available seats, we'll hold a lottery to determine placement on April 3, 2026.
Our Early Childhood Programs
Integrated Preschool (3-Year-Olds)
Your child's first school adventure begins here! Our Integrated Preschool is a special place where children with disabilities and typically developing peers learn, play, and grow side by side. Through play-based activities and hands-on experiences, your child will build friendships, develop confidence, and discover new skills every day. Families who are admitted into the program will be assigned one of the following:
Program Options:
- 2-Day Program (Morning session)
- 3-Day Program (Morning session)
- 4-Day Program (Afternoon session)
Who Can Apply:
- Children who are 3 years old by August 31
- Children with special education needs (placement through IEP process)
- Typically developing children as peer models (screening required)
Important Note: Peer model applicants are expected to be toilet-trained before starting. Since space for peer models is limited, if we receive more applications than available seats, we'll hold a lottery. Space is limited—if your child isn't selected right away, we'll add them to our waitlist for future openings.
Pre-Kindergarten (4-Year-Olds)
We welcome all Mashpee families to our Pre-Kindergarten program! This is where your 4-year-old will thrive in a classroom designed for exploration and discovery. Children learn alongside one another in an integrated setting that celebrates each child's unique strengths and abilities. A developmental screening helps us get to know your child and tailor our instruction to meet their needs. Your child will engage in both structured learning and hands-on activities that build the skills and confidence needed for kindergarten.
Who Can Apply:
- Children who are 4 years old by August 31
- All Mashpee residents are welcome!
Important Notes: Peer model applicants are expected to be toilet-trained before starting. The school day runs from 9:05 - 2:45 PM and there is no bussing for Pre-Kindergarten.
Kindergarten (5-Year-Olds)
Kindergarten is such a milestone! Our program provides a strong, joyful foundation for your child's educational journey, where they'll build friendships, develop a love of learning, and gain essential academic and social skills.
Who Can Apply:
- Children who are 5 years old by August 31
- All Mashpee residents are welcome!
What You'll Need to Upload
When you complete the online registration, please upload original documents. Photos of documents are accepted:
- Birth Certificate (Bring with you to the screening as well)
- Proof of Residency:
- mortgage payment, purchase agreement, lease, or Mashpee Public Schools residency affidavit (found on the MPS registration page)
- Proof of Occupancy
- Utility bill - gas electric, oil, cable, or excise tax bill.
- Photo ID, Massachusetts photo ID or Valid Passport
- Current Physical with Vision and Lead Level (updated within the last 12 months)
- Immunization Records
After You Register
- Preschool Lottery: If a lottery is needed for the Preschool Program (3-year-old), it will be held on Friday, April 3rd at 12:00 PM.
- Developmental Screening: All children applying to our Early Childhood programs will participate in a developmental screening. This helps us get to know your child and ensure we're providing the best learning environment tailored to their needs. Your child will be assigned a 30 minute timeslot May 4-8.
- Open House and School Visit Opportunities will be announced with registration confirmation.
- Placement letters will be sent according to grade level. Preschool will be sent June 1, 2026. Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten letters will be sent August 15, 2026.
